May 23rd, 2011, Monday
Father and mother have returned home just yesterday evening, and I must say, I am relieved they are back. Our wonderful house has been dark and dreary without their presence to fill its walls. My health has taken a turn for the worse and I regret to say I have been bed-ridden for several days yet. It is not a serious illness and for that we are all grateful. Yet I must confess it has been quite dull being shut in with only my thoughts and my gregarious pup to comfort me. My ears have taken refuge in the delightful melodies of Franz Schubert, who is yet becoming very dear to my heart with his ingenious infusion of sparkling melodies and melancholy harmonies. I look forward to taking my usual pleasure in the events of the day-crocheting, reading, and taking a turn about the house and park with our dog. This year, I fear it will be quite a heated summer season as it has already let up to 70 degrees! We can only be cautious as we venture out into the summer heat so as to not become of a burnt disposition-our health should come first. As I am still confined to my bed, I must be off for now so that I may continue my resting in the hopes of recuperating by morning.
